Annual General Meeting, Sunday, March 28 - Our TNYC Annual General Meeting will be held on Sunday, March 28th, 2010, at 2:30pm at the clubhouse, with a potluck to follow after the meeting. All members are strongly encouraged to attend because this is the meeting where major issues are brought forward, debated and voted on. As well, we get a chance to meet with everyone and prepare the groundwork for the upcoming boating season. The Social Committee will be providing some desserts.
We are seeking nominations for the positions of Vice-Commodore, Wharf Chair, Secretary and Social Chair. Any member or spouse of a member may serve on the Executive. If you would like to put yourself forward for one of the positions, or if you would like to nominate someone else, please send the name and contact information to Gary Case at gcase@nl.rogers.com, or telephone 895-3121. The deadline is Wednesday, March 24. Gary Case and
Terry Johnstone are the Nominating Committee.

Tentative Lift -In, Saturday, May 15 - Tentative Lift In date!!
The tides are not great for the month of May, but we are confident that we can get our boats in around this time. So please give some thought to what you need to do to get your boat ready for lift in. This will be a two day event, with boats being lifted on Saturday, and the masts will be stepped on Sunday. Crane availability has not been established at this time, so the date for now is very tentative. More information will be forthcoming in future updates.

| MMSI (Marine Mobile Service Identity) A number of our TNYC members now own VHF radios that are enabled for digital selective calling (DSC), and have expressed an interest in creating a repository of MMSI numbers. If you are interested in having your MMSI added to that list, please forward it to me. I am not sure just yet how we will share this info, but collecting it is the first step. Power Cables and Extension Cords - Members are reminded that they must disconnect shore electrical connections when not aboard their boats for extended periods (i.e. overnight). The main safety concern is the potential fire hazard for those whose boats do not have certified marine connectors. However, there is also a strong suspicion of stray leaking ground currents getting into the water, which has been causing excessive corrosion for some boat owners. Your cooperation would be greatly appreciated. | ||
